MadiDrop, a Charlottesville startup business, is on the threshold of positively affecting the lives of potentially billions of people worldwide. MadiDrop is a porous, biodegradable ceramic tablet designed to release silver ions that will disinfect water. One tablet can be reused continuously for six months, potentially purifying about 500 gallons of water.

A manufacturing facility to make MadiDrop is being readied on the southern outskirts of Charlottesville, with production expected to begin early next month.
