What We Do

NetForecast validates ISP data usage consumption meters to ensure that consumers’ bills are accurate. We act as a liaison between industry and government agencies to ensure that broadband service is delivered fairly and transparently. We also measure and report on ISP user performance, and analyze and compare performance data from other “speed” testing sources.

Job Description

The successful candidate for this job will have extensive knowledge of and expertise with Microsoft Windows desktop and server environments.  This person will assist other NetForecast staff with the maintenance and operation of NetForecast’s remote test equipment and servers.  Duties will include but are not limited to:

Windows PC configuration and upgrades (software and hardware) Router flashing, configuration, and troubleshooting

Windows Server configuration and maintenance Network firewall configuration and troubleshooting

 Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  1. Perform maintenance and upgrades on the remote Windows PCs using GoToMyPC
  2. Perform maintenance and upgrades on our Windows Servers
  3. Work with Senior Systems Engineer to configure and/or troubleshoot network connectivity and security issues
  4. Perform installation and configuration of new Windows PC test equipment that will be shipped to customers
  5. Perform flashing and configuration of new routers that will be shipped to customers
  6. Support customers with troubleshooting router and PC issues
  7. Ability to work from home
  8. Work in a distributed team environment with 2 to 3 other team members
  9. Communicate with team members, status and plans, on a daily basis (participate in the daily standup Skype call)
  10. Work with team to agree upon and deliver to individual tasks

Required Skills and Experience

  • Windows Administration Experience (1 to 2 years).
    • Server 2008 R2, Server 2012, and Server 20012 R2
    • Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10
    • Windows Firewall, Certificates, IIS
    • Windows Backup and Restore
    • Power-Shell Scripting
  • PC Hardware
    • Basic PC/Laptop hardware configuration
    • Peripheral Installation (including internal drives and USB devices)
    • BIOS Configuration
  • Windows Security
    • Role Based Security
    • Firewall Configuration
    • Ability to research security threats
    • Security threat detection tools
    • Anti-virus knowledge (Norton in particular)
  • Networking (Intranet and Internet)
    • DNS
    • DHCP
    • TCP / IP
      • SOHO router
      • Linux command line and applications familiarity
      • IP Addressing
      • Firewall
      • Wireless configuration
  • Good communication and organization skills
