Cville Ranks #1 in VC Funding Growth

According to this report by the National Venture Capital Association, nine companies in the Charlottesville, VA MSA received $27.7 million in venture funding in 2015. That makes Charlottesville #1 out of 133 MSAs in both the greatest growth (at 55.2 percent ) and the greatest rate of growth as measured by venture investment dollars with a 156.5 percent increase since 2010.

HemoShear Therapeutics Races Toward Discovery of Treatments for Children's Rare Diseases

[Charlottesville, VA - January 6, 2016] --  HemoShear Therapeutics, LLC, (HemoShear) a privately held discovery-stage biotechnology company, and Children's National Health System, a non-profit leading research and treatment center for children with rare diseases, today announced study results that demonstrated successful restoration of propionic acidemia (PA), a rare metabolic disorder, using explanted liver tissue from a child with the disease.
