The Office of University Communications at the University of Virginia seeks a Web Developer to help support its core mission of elevating the reputation of the University while promoting and strengthening its brand regionally, nationally and internationally. Reporting to the Creative Director, the Web Developer will support the development of the University's web presence, including the creation of custom pages and the enhancement of its overall functionality. He or she will be responsible for the on-going development of the University's core websites, including but not limited to,, UVA Today, and the President's Office. Core responsibilities will include: - Acting as a technical expert to provide recommendations on highly complex projects. - Working with members of the creative team including designers, videographers, and photographers to solidify requirements. - Interpreting specifications and writing technical code to meet specifications. - Coding, testing, and implementation of applications, and evaluating applications after implementation - Providing on-going support of Drupal sites owned by University Communications. - Providing problem-solving support as necessary for Drupal sites owned by University Communications. - Complying with data security polices and standards and implementing data security measures. - Monitoring security bulletins and open-software community postings. - Staying current on secure web-programming techniques. The successful candidate will have working knowledge of both front- and backend Drupal development. He/she will be a collaborative, deadline-driven individual who is willing to take direction and able to manage several projects at once. Additionally, he or she will be a conceptual thinker with advanced knowledge and competence working with Git, PHP, HTML, SASS, CSS and Javascript. This is a full-time, University Staff position.
