On May 26, the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (CBIC) honored the area's most innovative and inspirational entrepreneurs, companies, teachers and students at its sold-out 18th annual awards gala.

MoneyRates combined a number of factors, including unemployment, tax rates and workplace safety, to identify the best and worst states to make a living. Fortune Magazine has released its list of the top 50 workplaces for recent college graduates. Charlottesville company, WillowTree Apps, made the list at number 48.

Foodio, a Charlottesville, VA technology company providing custom online ordering solutions for restaurants, has announced it has raised $585,000 in a Series Seed funding round led by Jaffray Woodriff. The funds will be used to continue to grow the number of restaurants served, expand the team, enter new markets, and continue to enhance the product technology.

Area Educators Recognized for Leveraging Learning Technology

On Thursday night, May 26, one superstar Charlottesville-area teacher will be named CBIC Educator of the Year and take a $2,500 technology grant back to their classroom, made possible by UVA Research Park. This year's finalists are Crozet Elementary School teacher Betsy Agee, Monticello High School teacher Eric Bredder, and Adam Mulcahy from Western Albemarle High School.
